Ricky Williams

Former NFL running back Ricky Williams is launching his own cannabis lifestyle brand, Highsman – a pun on the Heisman Prize he received in 1998 after years of campaigning for the legalization and normalization of cannabis use.

The athlete-focused, purpose-driven brand offers cannabis products, clothing, and accessories curated by Williams himself. The initial cannabis lineup includes three strains: a sativa, an indica, and a hybrid. The company will also launch its own pre-rolls shortly.

“We’re reversing the script of how people see cannabis,” Williams said in an exclusive interview.

During his entire career as a professional footballer, Williams suffered two bans for marijuana. And, he affirms, cannabis has helped him deal with the stress and injuries that come with the job – without hindering his success.

“Highsman is about appreciating greatness and the dedicated and passionate team behind this brand wants to help inspire greatness in themselves, each other and our fans,” he said.

Beyond cannabis

In addition to cannabis, the Highsman brand also offers apparel and accessories, including a college jacket, t-shirts, and other sport-inspired streetwear, as well as trays, pelican cases, and water bottles.

Highsman is available now at select retailers in California and Oregon.

“Highsman has been rethinking the relationship between exercise and cannabis for years,” said Eric Hammond, CEO of Highsman. “We believe Highsman will resonate with a broad and inclusive audience and we are excited to introduce such a breakthrough brand. The continuation of a journey Ricky began in the NFL, Highsman will push the boundaries between the world of sport and cannabis. “
